TIMELINE
BREAKDOWN
Of course, each game has it's own storyline (in which RWS tries to deny but always makes one) in itself that I'll elaborate on! I will only be doing cannon games (yes I'm including Postal III). Without further a do, let's get into it!
POSTAL
Someone on Reddit, "In Postal 1/Redux Postal Dude is being evicted from his home and begins to believe that a madness plague has been spread through his town and he's the only sane person left (he's not and is obviously insane). It's also implied he was possessed by a demon. Game ends with him in a asylum." The original Postal game starts off strong with Postal Dude-better known as Dude-being evicted from his home. This alone sucks but he later-or very quickly-finds out theres been a strange substance that can alter your emotions and mindset released throughout his town, The Town of Paradise. Dude starts to think he's the only sane man left and "sets out to end this madness" (from Postal FandomWiki) thinking it originated from his towns Air Force base. At the end of the game Dude shows signs of a psychotic episode and sets out on a shooting spree. At that point we assume he's been abducted by a mental institute and he's examined. The end credits is a series of a voice overlay of someone screaming. In some articles I've found, they state theres a scene of postal dude being thrown into a padded room but I believe this is only in Redux.
Postal: Special Delivery is the multiplayer add-on of Postal. It adds 4 new levels to the game. I'm not entirely sure on what goes on but in his war journal he writes "War Journal: I woke up from the strangest dream this morning...My head is pounding...Who came in here and moved around all my furniture? I'd better find out..."
POSTAL 2
Thank you to the Reddit guy again, "In Postal 2, Dude is out of the asylum but has been relocated to a different, much worse, neighborhood with his wife and his dog. He was hired by RWS but ended up getting fired, pushing him over the edge. His wife has a series of tasks for him to do, but due to his insanity he does them all in illegal and dangerous ways. He ends up accidentally starting his town's apocalypse but most of all forgets to buy Rocky Road for his wife. Causing him to shoot himself in the head to avoid her nagging." In Postal 2, Dude lives in trailor with his wife and his dog. Through the course of the week, his wife asks him to complete certain tasks throught the day in which he does. Although, something about it isn't right. From boy-cotters attacking your (I say your because this game is a fpsg) work place to redneck's kidnapping you and keeping you in their underground factory, everyday has it's own fight. You simultaniously complete these tasks through the course of the week (Monday to Friday). But on the last day, you're pushed to the edge-or Postal Dude is rather-and you end up committing suicide because your wife complains of forgetting her ice cream.
Postal 2: Share the Pain is the multiplayer version of Postal 2 with 2 new areas on the map (the Obligatory Sewer Complex and Tora Bora) and 4 new game modes; DeathMatch: Standard for multiplayer games. Can be set to most frags in a given time or set amount of frags to win. Team DeathMatch: Like the above except between teams (Red vs Blue). Snatch: Capture the flag except with sexy Postal Babes instead of flags. Grab: Collect bags of money for increased power. (from Postal 2: Share the Pain FandomWiki)
Postal 2: Apocalypse Weekend You survive the gunshot to the head in the original game mode and wake up in Paradise's Hospital. You recieve, what you think is get well cards, but turns out to be threats from various people. You leave the hospital and discover your town is zombie infested. On sunday you're arrested by National Guard and your cllmate is a "highly flammable Taliban" and set him on fire. As you escape you come accross a Thermo-nuclear Warhead. You use this against the rival gaming company from yours but before leaving town you realize your dog is trapped in the pound. You make your way back, rescuing him and begin leaving town. When you get to Postal Dude's trailor, you realize it's being used as a roadblock. Retrieving it and defeating zombified Mike J, you finally escape town. This is where the infamous line, "I regret nothing!" takes place and the bomb destroys Postal Dude's old home.
Postal 2: Paradise Lost After Apocalypse Weekend, Postal Dude and his dog (Champ) are trying to escape from Paradise Town. Champ notices a cat and jumps out of the trailor window, chasing the cat back to Paradise. "Not wanting to leave his sidekick behind, the Postal Dude turns his car around in an attempt to save his misguided companion." (from Postal 2: Paradise Lost FandomWiki) As he's turning back, his head injury worsens and causes him to crash, putting him into an 11 year nuclear-induced coma. During his coma, Dude sees into the dark future (Postal III) He returns to Paradise Town to find it's now Paradise Lost, a nuclear fallout version of his old town. You spend a week searching for your sidekick.
Postal 2: Corkscrew RuLes! Postal 2: Corkscrew RuLes! is a Russian add-on to the game. It's essentially the same as the original Postal 2 but with 3 new weapons and only spans over Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You can complete every task without violence or illegality.
POSTAL III
According to Postal III FandomWiki, "Postal III (Stylized as PostaLIII) was the originally released third game in the POSTAL series, but has since been disowned by Running With Scissors. Because of this, it has since been listed as a non-canonical "spin-off" title and was subsequently retconned in Paradise Lost and POSTAL 4: No Regerts." As well as Reddit guy stating "Postal 3 doesn't exist", there is not much that probably wants to be known. It's overall a strange game with an extremely random plot. So basically, the worst Postal game in the franchise. Though it's collectively hated, it does have 2 storylines, The Good Path and The Insane Path. The good path is where Postal Dude joins the police force after having to choose what to do in the Cash Mart Robbery, the insane path is where Postal Dude helps an Ecotologist during the Cash Mart Robbery. At the Cash Mart Robbery, Postal Dude is given several options that affect the rest of the gameplay. Postal III "The Pre Path" FandomWiki lists them each, Option 1: Join the Police Force. Choosing to help the Cops, the Postal Dude takes out the Ecotologists on the first floor then the second before culminating into a battle against an Ecozealot leader with a BadgerSaw. Option 2: Join the Ecotologists. Choosing to help the Ecotologists, the Postal Dude murders the Police force causing SWAT to drop in. After taking them out, the Cops send in a helicopter to take out the Dude. Option 3: Cleanse the building
The true path of Insanity, the Postal Dude commits a proper genocide of everyone inside the building, though he winds up working with the Ecotologists regardless.
POSTAL REDUX
Postal Redux is the higher definition version of Postal, not much more to be said! RWS goes more into depth about it.
POSTAL 4: NO REGERTS
RWS official website describes Postal 4 with "Several years have passed since the events that devastated the once proud town remembered as Paradise. The only two to walk away from the cataclysm unscathed, the hapless everyman known as the POSTAL Dude and his loyal companion Champ, drive aimlessly through the scorching deserts of Arizona looking for a new place to call home. After a fortuitous gas station rest stop ends with their car, trailer home, and the rest of their worldly possessions stolen, all the Dude’s seemingly got left to his name is his canine cohort and his bathrobe, and neither of them smells all that great. However, on the horizon, the duo glimpses an unfamiliar and dazzling town that beckons to them. What untold prospects lie within? Fame? Fortune? Maybe a bidet or two? Edensin awaits." Aside from that, I can't tell you much about the game not much is said and I have yet to play it!
POSTAL BRAIN DAMAGED
Postal brain damaged is the last somewhat timeline related game (I personally think it perfectly fits into the timeline). Postal Brain Damaged FandomWiki recites, "this game is heavily inspired by classic FPS games such as Doom and Quake. As such, levels are large with an exit the player must find to complete the level, player movement is far smoother than mainline FPS POSTAL games, and the graphical aesthetic is retro inspired. As the game takes place in the Dude's dreamscape (or 'Dudescape' if you will), many of the useable weapons are intentionally zany (such as the Super Hooker Shotgun) with unique alt-fires. Items make a return as does the ability to pee. Enemies are also referred to as 'Hostiles', a nod to the original POSTAL" Postal Brain damaged was made more recently-June 2022-and as much as I've searched, I cant find too much information on it. I will say though, elaborating on my personal opinion and connection to the overall lore, Postal Brain Damaged takes place somewhere after Dude finds a place to reside in after Postal 2: Paradise Lost. Throughout the game we see Dude in his famous krotchy hospital gown that appeared in prior games. That being said, he's obviously still recovering from his head injury in the previous game Postal 2. There's also a reoccurring character, The Other Dude. The Other Dude is from the original Postal game, if you know how deranged that game is-or read my description on it all-you might know that in the original game, Postal Dude spirals into a psychotic episode because of the "evil mind-altering substance" and has malicious intent to kill throughout the whole game. It's said that he was possessed by a demon because his voice files read as "Demon". The Other Dude is seen a few times throughout the game appearing frequently in hidden or locked places (areas where you might need a key or lever to get past). Postal Brain Damaged also shows a lot of elements from the pandemic. Bosses like "Karen: The Manager Slayer" and "Big Bad Rona" are great examples of trends in 2020-2021.
